graduation day (take 2)...

Friday Fred had his Masters graduation ceremony. Which seemed a little funny seeing as he has just finished his PhD. He got to wear a different robe though, got hit on the head with the New Testament by the dean and this time it was held in the Examination Schools so we could actually see what was going on. Well done Freddy... now we just have to wait for the third one.

the road to citizenship...

While the road to citizenship has certainly been a long and strenuous one (not to mention gut wrenchingly expensive) the aftermath of all the efforts was extremely enjoyable. A British feast followed by a picnic in Hyde Park and classical music at the Royal Albert Hall... welcomed me into citizenship - must better than the ques at the Croydon citizenship offices.

and he's off...

Freddy has just headed off to his PhD viva which starts in 5min... it was pouring down rain this afternoon and it just stopped a couple minutes before he had to walk out the door. Perfect timing.

we want what fred wants...

Which undoubtedly meant we were going to be eating kebabs when we headed into Uppsala with all the boys from the lab. This started a crazy obsession that I now have with kebab pizza... it sounds so wrong, but is actually so very right that I had to eat in two nights in a row.

we're back...

We just arrived back from Sweden today. Had the most beautiful two weeks doing absolutely nothing but hanging out in the sunshine, sailing, swimming, and playing. It was really wonderful and so relaxing. More on some of our holiday adventures later... but for now, I'm off to bed.

'i just need to find landskap...'

At the end of our first official day in Sweden I am left looking like a lobster. Freddy and I spent the morning at the lake then came home and ate tasty salami and gouda. We headed over to Maggan's place for some dinner in the late afternoon. She used to watch Freddy when he was a little boy... he tends to reminisce about their time baking and reading stories. We played pool and discovered that Vivi is a little shark. I was 'forced' into eating three very yummy pieces of strawberry cream pie, felt ill, and then once we got back home begged Freddy and Vivi to cycle with me down to the grocery store to buy my favourite candy... which I then stuffed my face with (after jumping on the trampoline). Lesson #1 of the holiday: 'I'm not hungry but I'm on holiday' (as I reach my hand into a massive bag of sour candy).

and we're off...

We arrived into Stockholm late this afternoon. It is so beautiful and fresh. Spent the evening lying in the grass getting bitten by bugs, playing football and eating the most decadent chocolate cake ever. We are so happy to be here. Here's to two more weeks of pure bliss...

a sure way to a girl's heart....

Girls like feeling special. Even though they say that 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach' if the food is heart shaped I'm pretty sure it's the way to a girls as well. Last night at Bella Vita in Broadway we had three pizzas and a plate of pasta delivered all in the shape of a heart. It was the most hysterical and wonderful dining experience I think I have ever had. The staff were so insanely friendly. Calling each of us Maria and joking that they didn't have any chicken to put on the pizza, after Jackie asked if they did, and then bringing it out with the lost ingredient firmly in place. The kitchen is open so you can see all the chefs making the food and I even got the opportunity to go back and check it out (see the last photo). Not only is the atmosphere so much fun but the food is actually really good. If you're ever in East London be sure to check it out. It's my new favourite. Oh, and be sure to ask for Tony Peroni. He's the guy that will hook you up with a heart shaped pizza if your after one.
